The 2012 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships Started Today

The 2012 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships started today at Hughes Stadium at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. The event will be held between July 23rd – July 29th and will showcase some of the best young athletes from across the country. The athletes competing generally fall between the ages of 7 and 18 and the competition takes place in (6) two-year age division.

2012 Olympic Athletes to Watch: Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter to watch out for in 2012. Usain Bolt was born on August 21, 1986. He is listed at 6′ 5″ and 200 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s 100m and 200m sprints.

Usain Bolt is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch in London, England. Bolt holds the world records on the the men’s 100m and 200m. Bolt won gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4 x 100m relay events in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

2012 Olympic Athletes to Watch: Allyson Felix

Allyson Felix is an American sprinter to watch out for in 2012. Allyson Felix was born on November 18, 1985. She is currently listed at 5′ 6″ and 125 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the women’s 200m dash.

Allyson Felix is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Felix won a silver medals in both the 2004 Olympics and the 2008 Olympics in the women’s 200m. She won a gold medal in the 4 x 400m relay in the 2008 Olympics and is one of the top female Olympic athletes. Felix became the youngest ever gold medalist sprinter in the 200 meters at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005.

Female Olympic Athletes: Lolo Jones

Lolo Jones is a famous female olympic athlete even though she has not yet won a medal in the Olympics. She was favored to win the 100m hurdles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but she tripped on the penultimate hurdle, finishing in seventh place. Lolo Jones was born on August 5, 1982 is currently listed at 5′ 9″ and 140 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the women’s 60m and 100m hurdles.

Lolo Jones finished 3rd in the 2012 USA Olympic trials and is one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch in London, England. It would be a fascinating story if Lolo Jones goes on to win gold in the 2012 Olympics after her disappointing defeat in 2008.

Yohan Blake is a Jamaican sprinter to watch out for in 2012. Yohan Blake was born on December 26, 1989 . He is listed at 5′ 11″ and 172 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s 100m and 200m sprints.

Yohan Blake is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch in London, England. Blake is the youngest athlete ever to win the World Championship in the men’s 100m surpassing the legendary Carl Lewis. Blake also beat world record holder Usain Bolt in both the 100m and the 200m at the 2012 Jamaican Olympic trials.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a Jamaican sprinter to watch out for in 2012. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was born on December 27, 1986. He is listed at 5′ 3″ and 110 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the women’s 100m dash.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Fraser-Pryce won a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics and took first place in the Jamaican Olympic trials this year. In the 2008 Olympics, she became the first Jamaican woman in history to win an Olympic gold medal in the 100m sprint.

2012 USA Olympic Trials – Womens 200m Final

Allyson Felix looked real good in the Womens 200m at the 2012 USA Olympic Trials. Allyson Felix took first place with a time of 21.69. Carmelita Jeter took 2nd place and Sanya Richards-Ross finished 3rd to complete the USA 200m team which will compete at the 2012 Olympics in London, England.

2012 Olympic Athletes to Watch: Justin Gatlin

Justin Gatlin is an American sprinter to watch out for in 2012. Justin Gatlin was born on February 10, 1982. He is listed at 6′ 0″ and 175 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s 100m dash.

Justin Gatlin is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Gatlin took first place in the USA Olympic trials yesterday defeating star sprinter Tyson Gay in the mens’s 100m. Gatlin won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens in the 100m as well as bronze in the 200m. He also won a silver meday in the 4×100 relay. Despite being banned for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs in the past, Gatlin is back and seeking gold at the 2012 Olympics in London.

2012 Olympic Athletes to Watch: Ashton Eaton

Ashton Eaton is one of the best decathletes to watch out for in 2012. Ashton Eaton was born on January 21, 1988. He is listed at 6′ 1″ and 185 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s decathlon.

Ashton Eaton is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Eaton currently holds the world record in both the decathlon and heptathlon events and is a two-time medalist (one gold, one silver) at the World Championships. Ashton Eaton set the world record in the the decathlon today at the USA Olympic trials with 9,039 points. Eaton is now considered one of the best athletes in the world and will be someone to keep an eye on in the 2012 Olympics in London.

Bryan Clay Disqualified in 110 meter hurdles in Decathlon Trials

2008 Olympic gold medalist Bryan Clay was disqualified in the 110 meter hurdles to the USA Olympic trials for the decathlon. Bryan Clay was initially disqualified from the decathlon 110m hurdles on for two infractions. One was knocking over a hurdle with his hand and the other was for failure to attempt to clear the next hurdle.

Clay’s coach protested the disqualification and the ruling for Clay’s hand knocking over the hurdle was overturned. The disqualification for failure to attempt to clear the next hurdle, however, was upheld.

Clay ended up with no mark in the hurdles and did not qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. Clay would have had the opportunity to be the first decathlete to win 3 Olympic medals.
