2012 Olympic Athletes to Watch: Justin Gatlin

Justin Gatlin is an American sprinter to watch out for in 2012. Justin Gatlin was born on February 10, 1982. He is listed at 6′ 0″ and 175 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s 100m dash.

Justin Gatlin is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Gatlin took first place in the USA Olympic trials yesterday defeating star sprinter Tyson Gay in the mens’s 100m. Gatlin won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens in the 100m as well as bronze in the 200m. He also won a silver meday in the 4×100 relay. Despite being banned for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs in the past, Gatlin is back and seeking gold at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Ashton Eaton is one of the best decathletes to watch out for in 2012. Ashton Eaton was born on January 21, 1988. He is listed at 6′ 1″ and 185 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s decathlon.

Ashton Eaton is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Eaton currently holds the world record in both the decathlon and heptathlon events and is a two-time medalist (one gold, one silver) at the World Championships. Ashton Eaton set the world record in the the decathlon today at the USA Olympic trials with 9,039 points. Eaton is now considered one of the best athletes in the world and will be someone to keep an eye on in the 2012 Olympics in London.

Bryan Clay Disqualified in 110 meter hurdles in Decathlon Trials

2008 Olympic gold medalist Bryan Clay was disqualified in the 110 meter hurdles to the USA Olympic trials for the decathlon. Bryan Clay was initially disqualified from the decathlon 110m hurdles on for two infractions. One was knocking over a hurdle with his hand and the other was for failure to attempt to clear the next hurdle.

Clay’s coach protested the disqualification and the ruling for Clay’s hand knocking over the hurdle was overturned. The disqualification for failure to attempt to clear the next hurdle, however, was upheld.

Clay ended up with no mark in the hurdles and did not qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. Clay would have had the opportunity to be the first decathlete to win 3 Olympic medals.

David Oliver is one of the top hurdlers to watch out for in 2012. David Oliver was born on April 24, 1982. He is listed at 6′ 2″ and 205 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s 110 meter hurdles.

David Oliver is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Oliver is a 3 time USA Outdoor champion and won a bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics. Oliver is one of the best hurdlers in the world and will be someone to keep an eye on in the 2012 Olympics in London.

Jessica Ennis is track and field athlete to watch out for in 2012. Jessica Ennis was born on January 28, 1986 in Sheffield, England. This English athlete specializes in the womens’s pentathlon, the women’s heptathlon and the women’s 110 meter hurdles. This talented track and field star athlete was unable to compete in the 2008 Olympics due to injuries.

Jessica Ennis is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Ennis was the 2009 World Heptathlon Champion and the 2010 World Indoor Pentathlon Champion. Ennis is one of the best multi event athletes and will be someone to keep an eye on in the 2012 Olympics in London.

2012 Olympic Athletes to Watch: Leryn Franco

Leryn Franco is a Paraguayan javelin thrower known as much for her beauty as her athleticism. Leryn Franco was born on born March 1, 1982. She specializes in the javelin throw but also has a legitimate modeling career. This talented athlete is currently listed at 5′ 8” and 119 lbs. Leryn Franco was the runner-up in the 2006 Miss Paraguay competition and also competed in the Miss Bikini Universe pageant the same year.

Leryn Franco is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Miss Franco competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics for Paraguay where she was 21st in Group A and finished 42nd overall. At the 2008 Summer Olympics Franco again competed in the javelin representing Paraguay, where she finished next-to-last at 51st. Had she done her personal best (55.38 m = 181′ 8 3/8″) she would have placed 36th.

This Ethiopian long distance runner specializes in the men’s 5,000 meter and the 10,000 meter. This legendary athlete is currently listed at 5′ 4” and 120 lbs. Bekele’s hometown is Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Kenenisa Bekele is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Bekele set new Olympic records while winning the 5000 meters (12:57.82) and the 10,000 (27:01.17) in 2008. Bekele is one of the best long distance runners of all-time, with the championships and records to prove it

Kellie Wells is a U.S. hurdler to watch out for in 2012. Kellie Wells was born on July 16, 1982. This American hurdler specializes in the womens 100 meter and 60 meter hurdles. This talented athlete is currently listed at 5′ 4” and 125 lbs. Kellie Wells attended Hampton University and is from Richmond, Virginia.

Kellie Wells is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic level athletes to watch. Wells was a USATF Outdoor National Champion and USATF Indoor National Champion in 2011. Look for Wells to make her presence felt in the 2012 Olympic trials this year.

Bryan Clay is a U.S. decathlete to watch out for in 2012. Bryan Clay was born on January 3, 1980. This American athlete specializes in the decathalon. He is currently listed at 5′ 10” and 185 lbs. Bryan Clay was born in Azusa, CA.

Bryan Clay is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. The winner of the decathlon usually gets the the title of “World’s Greatest Athlete.” After getting the silver medal in the 2004 Olympics, Bryan Clay earned the title in 2005 as the World Champion and again in 2008 as the Olympic Gold medalist in the decathlon. Clay can make Olympic history this year by becoming the only decathlete to win three Olympic medals.
