Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce: The World’s Fastest Woman

We told you earlier that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is one of the Jamaican sprinters to watch out for in 2012. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce edged out American sprinter Carmelita Jeter in the 100m to earn title of “world’s fastest woman” in the finals at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce defended her Olympic title and has won the gold in the women’s 100m in 2 straight Summer Olympics. In the 2008 Olympics, she became the first Jamaican woman in history to win an Olympic gold medal in the 100m sprint.

Can Anyone Break Flo Jo’s World Record in 100 meters?

Florence Griffith-Joyner known as Flo Jo was one of the best female Olympic athletes ever. Her world records in the 100m and 200m dashes still stand today. She ran a whopping 10.49 in the 100 meters which is still the current world record giving her the title of “the world’s fastest woman of all time”. Carmelita Jeter is probably the fastest woman alive right now and will be going for her first Olympic gold medal in the 100m later today in the women’s 100m final. As of right now though, Flo Jo remains the fastest woman ever.

2012 USA Olympic Trials – Womens 200m Final

Allyson Felix looked real good in the Womens 200m at the 2012 USA Olympic Trials. Allyson Felix took first place with a time of 21.69. Carmelita Jeter took 2nd place and Sanya Richards-Ross finished 3rd to complete the USA 200m team which will compete at the 2012 Olympics in London, England.

Carmelita Jeter of the United States hold the second fastest time ever recorded in the Women’s 100 meters behind the legendary Florence Griffith-Joyner at 10.64 seconds. She was the 2011 World Champion in the Womens 100 meters. She will be someone to watch out for in the 2012 Olympics.
